ONDO STATE TEAM UNDERSTUDIES LASEPA

…Commends Lagos For Its Role In Environmental Protection

The Special Adviser to Ondo State Governor on Environment, Mr. Oyeniyi Oseni, has commended the Lagos State Government for establishing LASEPA to protect the health, environment, and quality of residents’ life, just as he also expressed his appreciation to the State for allowing his team to learn about its activities for a better understanding of roles and also prepare them for the task ahead.

Oseni gave the commendation when he led a delegation from Ondo State on a study tour to LASEPA headquarters at Alausa, Ikeja, applauding the State Government for putting in place a functioning structure to rid the State of environmental pollution and safeguard environmental quality that is consistent with the social and economic needs of a smart city, like Lagos.

He explained that the visit to LASEPA became necessary following the resuscitation of the Ondo State Environmental Protection Agency (ODSEPA) earlier in the year by the State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, (SAN), and the urgent need to protect the environment from all forms of pollution in order to further improve the standard of living of the Ondo people through effective service delivery.

According to him, the Ondo State Government under its current leadership is keen on enhanced environmental protection, particularly when all hands must be on deck to collectively mitigate the effect of climate change on human health and the environment.

Responding, the General Manager, Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), Dr. (Mrs.) Dolapo Fasawe, who received the delegation at the agency’s headquarters, said the team will be guided on how to effectively manage an organisation to achieve set goals, navigate the challenges on the job, and proffer solutions in tandem with global best practices.

She explained the mode of LASEPA operations as well as the achievements recorded since she assumed office as General Manager, showing videos of public enlightenment and sensitisation programmes embarked upon by the Agency.

Dr. Fasawe, therefore, urged the visiting team to harness the knowledge acquired from LASEPA to restructure their agency for better achievements and the benefit of their people.
